Chemical Weapons in World War One

Early years of the First World War Chemical Warfare but only resulted in roughly four percent of the combat deaths during the First World War.

The French used Tear Gas filled grenades in August 1914 with very the chemical doing very little damage to the German Army.

The Germans first used Chemicals on a large scale in January 1915 during the Battle of Bolimov.

Artillery shells of tear gas were used without any success as the chemical froze and had very little effect.

The first lethal chemical attack employed by the Germans was using the chemical "Chlorine"

We will be designing this website as a mark of respect to the brave servicemen and women who bravely fought for                                            our freedom in the First World War and  Second World War.
